CEO of GMF AeroAsia and also President of IAMSA, Richard Budihadianto presented Opportunities and Challenges of the MRO Industry in Facing the ASEAN Single Aviation Market (ASAM) 2015 at the IAMSA Conference in Bandung on October 8th-9th, 2014. “The aircraft maintenance industry will grow significantly in the next 10 years,” Richard said.
The highest growth occurs in Asia Pacific region with an estimated 8.7% growth throughout 2012 until 2022. “In ten years the global MRO market will grow from USD 62.4 billion to USD 92.9 billion,” he said. The growth is align with the Indonesian MRO market which will reach USD 2 billion in 2017. “This is an opportunity and also a challenge to Indonesian MRO,” he adds.
Richard Budihadianto state that there are four essential aspects comprising quality standard, personnel development, capability development, and supply chain management & infrastructure. These four elements are keys to produce quality products, competitive cost and timeliness in delivering products.
The government can cooperate with IAMSA in developing the national MRO industry in order to improve domestic MRO standards, meet the needs of aircraft technicians, and build an Aviation Park as an integrated area for the necessities of the aviation industry and aircraft maintenance.
