GMF Become the First EASA DOA in Indonesia

GMF AeroAsia become the first Design Organization Approval (DOA) in Indonesia and the third DOA in Southeast Asia which achieved the EASA DOA certificate. The GMF DOA’s accomplishment was achieved after undergoing five certification phases for 9 months. “GMF DOA achievement is considered faster than expected, since it usually takes one to two years,” said GMF Head of Design Organization, Irfansyah Nasution. The EASA DOA certificate was handed over by EASA Director of Certification, Dr. Norbert Lohl to Irfansyah Nasution in Cologne, Germany at the end of November 2014.

Irfansyah stated that the scope of the design job approved by EASA is minor changes and minor repairs on cabin interiors, structure, installation of avionics equipment and electrical systems. The job is related to the category of large aircrafts such as B737, B747, B777, A330, A320, CRJ1000, ATR72, etc. “Our target for GMF DOA is to obtain the EASA certificate of approval for major repair in 2016,” he said. GMF DOA targets regional markets by offering design services in the form of modification and repair for customers such as Garuda Indonesia, Citilink, Sriwijaya Air, Travira Air, Airfast, etc.

GMF DOA achieved the first certificate of approval from DGCA in 2010 for Class B (minor change) and in 2012 for Class C (major change) for large aircraft and commuter aircraft. GMF DOA is the pioneer of design organizations in Indonesia, and it is confided by EASA as a coordinator of DOA activities for non-European Union countries in Southeast Asia.
