Industry Minister of Republic Indonesia, Saleh Husin visited GMF AeroAsia to see the aircraft maintenance process at the biggest MRO Company in Indonesia. At his visit on 4th March 2016, Saleh Husin was accompanied by Director Technic and Information Technology of Garuda Indonesia, Iwan Joeniarto and welcomed by Board of Directors GMF AeroAsia at GMF’s Hangar 4. A lot of topics had been discussed during the visit particularly about the utilization of local component and manufacturing.
Saleh Husin drives GMF to utilize local component in aircraft maintenance activity. “Our local component industry has to be supported in order to its growth,” he said. This industry growth hopes to made aircraft maintenance industry growing up fast in the future. Until now, most of domestic aircraft has their maintenance to overseas. Aside from capability and capacity, the aircraft technician availability is the unfinished task to be concerned. “Zero percent tax for aircraft component in the 8th Economic Policy hopes could pushed MRO industry to be more competitive,” he said.
In the other side, Director Technic and Information Technology of Garuda Indonesia and also GMF AeroAsia’s head of commis ioner, Iwan Joeniarto said GMF AeroAsia has extensive experience in aircraft component industry. GMF have sufficient capability to handle aircraft component operated in Indonesia. Government’s policy to free tax for aircraft component expects could help MRO Industry in expanding business. “Zero Percent Policy being a support for us to develop aircraft maintenance industry,” he said.
