GMF Leads Synergy of State Owned MRO’s

Jakarta – PT Garuda Maintenance Facility Aero Asia (GMF) has signed a master agreement for strategic cooperation “Indonesian Service Hub” (ISH) for Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul (MRO) Business Development and modification with PT Nusantara Turbin & Propulsi (NTP), PT Dirgantara Indonesia (Persero), PT Indopelita Aircraft Services (IAS) and PT Merpati Maintenance Facility (MMF) on September 20th 2017.

This master agreement is a continuation of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and signed by the five companies on March 2nd 2017. Located at Jakarta Convention Centre Indonesia Business Development Expo (IBDX) 2017, become the place of the Head of Agreement (HoA) signing ceremony which was witnessed by Deputy of Mining, Strategic Industries and Media, Fajar Harry Sampurno.

The HoA was signed by Director and Top Management of GMF, NTP Triyono, PTDI, IAS, and MMF. These state owned enterprises and a state owned enterprises subsidiary that engaged in aircraft maintenance agreed to create and do a business plan regarding Indonesia Hub Service itself.

Deputy of Mining, Strategic Industries and Media, Fajar Harry Sampurno said that the strategic cooperation of these five state owned MRO Company is an initiation to create the MRO industry as strategic sector in the country. “Indonesia Sevice Hub (ISH) is a program of the Ministry of State Owned Enterprises to improve the effectiveness of state owned enterprises MRO through synergy among MRO’s SOE.”

In the HoA, GMF is trusted to be the Chief of ISH Operating Cooperation supported by PTDI, IAS, MMF, and NTP as deputies. Vice President of Corporate Secretary GMF, Mohamad Arif Faisal said that the designation of GMF to become Chief of Operating Cooperation in this strategic cooperation shows the trust and support of the government as well as the MRO industry players to GMF continues to grow. “This strategic cooperation is a form of government’s seriousness in raising the aircraft maintenance industry in Indonesia. In this project, GMF will utilize its networking to brought out ISH products to foreign countries.” He said.

After this agreement was signed, a focus team will be formed to formulate the blueprint and workplan of ISH in the future. ISH will make an effort to standardize the quality of aircraft maintenance from MRO-owned enterprises. In addition, ISH will attempt to assessed the cooperation with OEM to develop capability and capacity maintenance of military aircraft. Indonesia Service Hub as the synergy between aircraft workshop of state owned enterprises and state-owned enterprises subsidiaries also gives added value for GMF, which is the realization of business expansion into one of the grand pillar of GMF’s strategy. Moreover, GMF is expanding its business towards general aviation where it takes capabilities required in taking care of the aircraft, especially turbo-prop type to manage aircraft maintenance market.

The various strategic partnership are continuously performed by GMF is one of GMF’s strategy in realizing its vision of being the TOP 10 MRO’s in the world.
