GMF Further Enforces Its Business Through Asia Pacific MRO Event

Jakarta, November 30, 2019 PT Garuda Maintenance Facility Aero Asia Tbk. (GMFI) attended the largest MRO conference week in Asia Pacific, held at the Singapore Expo Convention and Exhibition Center, Singapore, on September 24, 2019. In this event, GMF, represented directly by its President Director, Tazar Marta Kurniawan, and board of directors, signed business agreements with several aviation service companies and aircraft component companies from Asia Pacific and Europe.

On the first day, GMF once again enforced its landing gear maintenance business line by collaborating with French company, Safran. This agreement covers development of aircraft landing gear maintenance capabilities performed by GMF. This is consistent with GMF’s efforts in pioneering component business sector development through landing gear that was inaugurated in 2018.

Furthermore, GMF and Garuda Energy Logistics and Commercial (GELKo) its subsidiary in charge of trading business signed a cooperation agreement with Wencor as the world’s leading provider of aerospace aftermarket solutions, in terms of providing Total Material Solution Program. GMF seeks to reduce aircraft maintenance costs, specifically by maximizing Part Manufacturer Approval (PMA) components usage. “We hope to improve our ability to produce PMA components and increase PMA components usage through this collaboration,” said Tazar. In addition, GMF and GELKo also agree to appoint Boeing (KLX) as the provider of just in time supply agreement.

This year, GMF also intends to be able to accommodate the private jet market share through cooperation with Wira Jasa Angkasa (WJA), MRO owned by Premi Air Group. This collaboration encompasses painting, cabin, and components works, also utilization of Bonded Logistic Center (PLB) owned by GMF. By utilizing the PLB, WJA has the privilege to postpone import duties for import activities and export duties for export activities, and also reduce travel time to minimize dwelling time at ports.

The Asia Pacific MRO event attended by numerous leading MRO companies in the Asia Pacific region was the only Exhibition, Conference and Award event held in Asia Pacific region. “By our participation in this Asia Pacific MRO, we expect to continuously expand and explore potentials, especially in Asia Pacific region,” said Tazar. This exact occasion is an event for MRO to showcase innovations owned by each company, and a forum for MRO Industry to constantly grow and ensure air safety and airworthiness.


Ranked 9th in the World MRO

On the same occasion, GMF has succeeded in glorifying Indonesia’s name in the world scene by breaking into the Top 10 Global Airframe MRO in the world, occupying 9th position for the very first time. Paul Burton as Managing Director of Asia Pacific Aviation Week presented the award to GMF President & CEO, Tazar Marta Kurniawan, on Tuesday, September 24, 2019 in Singapore. As assessment indicator in this event, Aviation Week conducted a survey of working hours, where GMF reached 3.2 million manhour sold.
