Bandung, November 14th, 2025 - PT Garuda Maintenance Facility Aero Asia Tbk (GMF) strengthens its business transformation by signing a Joint Operation Agreement with PT Bandarudara Internasional Jawa Barat (BIJB) at the West Java Investment Summit (WJIS) 2025. This collaboration marks the official commencement of the development of the Kertajati Aerospace Park, an integrated area that will become a hub for Indonesia’s national aerospace industry.
The Joint Operation Agreement was signed by GMF’s CEO, Andi Fahrurrozi, and BIJB Acting President Director, Ronald H. Sinaga. Through this collaboration, GMF and BIJB will jointly manage the development of the area. GMF will also serve as the anchor tenant and operator, playing a central role in driving the industrial ecosystem across the ±84-hectare area located within West Java International Airport (BIJB), Majalengka.
Kertajati Aerospace Park is designed as an integrated aerospace ecosystem, encompassing Maintenance, Repair, & Overhaul (MRO) facilities for commercial and defense aircraft, engine and component workshops, a manufacturing zone, training and research centers, as well as a business center directly connected to airport infrastructure.
The Kertajati Aerospace Park will attract phased investments, starting with an initial investment of USD 8 million, and is projected to reach USD 771 million over the long-term cooperation period. The project is expected to generate thousands of new jobs both within the area and surrounding regions, while strengthening Indonesia’s aerospace and defense industry supply chain.
GMF’s CEO, Andi Fahrurrozi, emphasized that this initiative is part of the company’s strategic expansion. “Kertajati Aerospace Park will become a new foundation for GMF as we expand our capabilities in both the defense and commercial aerospace sectors. This is not merely business expansion, it is part of our mission to strengthen national capability and self-reliance in the aerospace and defense industries,” said Andi.
He further added, “Through close collaboration with BIJB and the full support of the West Java Provincial Government, our goal is to develop Kertajati into a center of innovation, training, and technology that drives Indonesia’s aviation industry from end to end.”
The initial phase of the project will focus on preparing the masterplan for the area, followed by engagement with investors and strategic industrial partners, including global Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) as well as educational and research institutions. The first-phase groundbreaking is targeted to take place in the near future with the development of a rotary-wing maintenance facility, where GMF will serve as the anchor tenant and operator. Moving forward, GMF plans to gradually centralize all of its defense-related MRO operations within the Kertajati Aerospace Park, beginning with the rotary-wing segment.
BIJB Acting President Director, Ronald H. Sinaga, added, “This collaboration strengthens Kertajati’s position as a high-technology aviation and defense industrial center with international standards. With GMF as our key partner, this area is expected to become a new engine of economic growth for West Java.”
Supported by the West Java Provincial Government and aligned with the national aerospace and defense industry roadmap, the Kertajati Aerospace Park is being developed based on green, smart, and sustainable industrial principles. This project will serve as a significant milestone in enhancing Indonesia’s role within the global aerospace and defense supply chain.
