Tangerang, July 1st, 2021 – PT Garuda Maintenance Facility Aero Asia Tbk (GMF) signed a memorandum of understanding with PT Bali Widya Dirgantara (BIFA), a company engaged in the education and training of pilots. Conducted at GMF’s Hangar 4, this memorandum of understanding was signed by the CEO of GMF I Wayan Susena and Chief Financial Officer of BIFA Irma Damayanti Djohan (1/7).

The cooperation between GMF and BIFA was firstly initiated in 2016. This year, GMF and BIFA agreed to jointly explore the potential for expanded cooperation, including airframe maintenance and modification, engine services, logistics services, tools calibration, component services, as well as training and on-the-job training (OJT). The services offered can be done by utilizing GMF’s maintenance facilities in Cengkareng or the newly built hangar in Denpasar. In her speech, Irma said, "We are grateful that GMF has supported our fleet with tremendous support. The cooperation between BIFA and GMF has been carried out well so far. In the future, we hope that this cooperation can be broadened to support our core activities in providing quality education and training for aviation professionals".

Denpasar Hangar itself has received DGCA Indonesia approval since its inauguration in mid-2020. It is also one of the Company's efforts to expand the business and target the market of B737, private jet, and general aviation aircraft that mainly operate in Eastern Indonesia and Oceania. Until now, Denpasar Hangar is capable to perform line maintenance up to C-check maintenance for B737. In addition, this hangar will also be focused on capturing the business opportunities of general aircraft and private jets that have not been fully seized in the region. "We will continue to maximize this product diversification to gradually make GMF as an integrated MRO industry in Indonesia," said Wayan.

BIFA, which currently operates Cessna 172 and Piper PA-44, sends most of its fleet maintenance activities overseas. Therefore, the presence of GMF’s maintenance facility adjacent to the BIFA’s training facility is expected to maximize the number of aircraft maintenance work performed domestically and reduce the operational cost. "The proximity of location between both parties’ facility offers an easy access and allows aircraft maintenance to be performed more efficiently," Wayan said. In the future, the cooperation will be followed up by developing capabilities and exploring the potential for expanded cooperation.
